FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Conference Frequently Asked Questions

When will the conference take place? Where is it located?

The International Conference History as a Subject and Instrument of Contemporary Disputes and Conflicts Between States and Nations will take place 08-10 November 2021, at Pedagogical University of Cracow, Poland.

How do I register for the meeting?
Register for the meeting by visiting the conference website: historyconflicts.up.krakow.pl There, you can complete the online form about the author, submit a proposal for an article, and attach the final version of the text.

Do I have to pay the conference fee?

We do not charge a conference fee.

Do you plan to hold a virtual conference?

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event most likely will be held as an online conference. We are fully prepared to shift all sections to electronic venues should personal mobility or the gathering of persons be subject to restrictions in the fall of 2021. In such case, the conference will be held via e-sessions and accepted texts will be published regardless of the pandemic situation. The final decision regarding the type of conference (virtual or in person) will be announced to participants in the late spring of 2021. Should the conferees meet in person, the conference organisers will provide accommodation and catering as well as the opportunity to participate in activities connected with the conference.

Is there funding available to help with travel costs?

The conference organizers do not cover travel costs for conference attendees.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?
A certificate of attendance is available upon request by emailing history_conflicts@ up.krakow.pl following the conference.

Will the sessions be recorded?

Yes, the sessions will be recorded.

Will I still be able to interact with the presenters during virtual sessions?

Yes, the speakers will be available to answer questions during the sessions that are presented during the conference. To participate, you need an Internet connection and an appropriate device (laptop/desktop computer) with web browser. Our Internet meeting platform will be most likely Microsoft Teams.

Additional instructions for accessing the conference will be forthcoming.

How long is the ideal presentation?

You are allocated a 25-minute slot in which to present, but your presentation itself should be no longer than 20 minutes. We would suggest aiming for around 15–18 minutes. This will allow ample time for directly engaging with the audience through discussion and questions. There is no perfect number of slides for a Power Point presentation, but the concept ‘less is more’ applies here. We suggest approximately 10–15 slides for a 20-minute presentation.

Do you want to publish the conference proceedings?

Conference proceedings from the first edition of our conference will be released by Routledge Publishing House. The conference papers from the current edition will be also published by a renowned scientific publishing house at the end of the year.
